Q. How do I care for my wrought iron products?
A. Do not wash with soap or harsh chemicals. The best way to clean wrought iron is to use a spray wax, such as Pledge. You can use a soft damp cloth but be sure to dry your items immediately.
Q.Will my wrought iron products rust?
A.All of the items on our online store are treated to inhibit rust. Items kept in the house out of the elements will not rust as long as they are kept dry. They are handmade from solid steel, if left in the elements they can rust. Items that are powder coated have a more durable finish and will last for many years in the direct rain without rusting. If you plan to install you items outside and you do not want them to rust you will need coat them with a clear poly urethane.

Q. What is wrought iron?
A. Wrought iron is a confusing term that refers to both a type of metal and a process of formation. More traditionally, it is a variety of iron, with additives that make it twistable with a low corrosion rate. Today “wrought iron” is no longer produced on a commercial scale. Items described as “wrought iron” are actually made from mild steel. They retain the description of “wrought iron” because the steel is wrought (worked) by hand.
Q. Do you produce all the items on your online store?
A. We do produce many of the items but not all. If you would like to see all the products that are Mountain Stream Forge originals navigate to the Popular Brands in the left hand column and choose Mountain Stream Forge. All of the items on our online store are handmade by skilled American craftsmen.
Q. Do you do custom work?
A. At this time we personally are not able to take on any custom work. We do have other blacksmiths we deal with that can do custom work. Please send us an email to inquire about custom work.
